With the cancellation of summer internships and full-time job opportunities, along with uncertainty around financial aid, work study, campus meals and housing, technical women are facing unprecedented obstacles in achieving their educational and career goals. AnitaB.org remains committed to supporting their persistence by providing small emergency grants that will help them pay rent, acquire food, address Internet connectivity issues, and so much more.

Hoping this letter finds you and your family well and safe.

Together we are facing an unprecedented crisis that is affecting all of our community, our families, and our way of life. At AnitaB.org, we remain as committed as ever to our mission and to each and every one of you.

In the spirit of transparency that we value as a community, I am reaching out to provide an update on how AnitaB.org is responding to the current economic environment brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many of you, our organization is facing challenging economic times. Still, we are doing what we can to send help to those in our community who are impacted by COVID-19.

Please know that we intend to continue to provide the programming, events, and support of the caliber you have come to rely on, but in response to our times, our team will look a little different. Over the next week, we will be making some difficult changes out of necessity and in response to our new global reality, including furloughs and part time assignments for many of our team members. We will continue to fund health benefits for our entire team during this period. Our heartfelt hope is that the ravages of this pandemic on global health will cease and the economic environment will improve quickly enough for us to be reunited with our team members in the weeks and months to come.

We thank all of our team members for their contributions to making our organization great. AnitaB.org will continue to transform against the backdrop of COVID-19, and to focus the passion started by our founders on bringing the same level of excellence to our mission-critical initiatives, including plans for our Grace Hopper Celebration. More details on this important event will follow soon.
